Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of President-elect Donald Trump, is expressing her interest in replacing Republican Marco Rubio and becoming U.S. Senator from Florida.

Such a move is possible based on her earth-shattering performance as the RNC chair during President Trump’s landslide victory.

Such a move is contingent on Rubio’s potential confirmation as Secretary of State under Trump’s new administration. Rubio’s nomination for the position has led to discussions about his replacement in the Senate, with Lara being a prominent name floated for the role.

Now, she’s even floating the possibility, mentioning in an interview that she would “love to serve” Florida if given the opportunity by Governor Ron DeSantis (R).

“This is my home state now and has been for three years. This is where Eric and I live and truly to have that opportunity, I think would be incredible, and no one knows better than I do the America First agenda or the goals of Donald Trump and the coming four years,” she said.

“So, if I am asked, I would love to consider it, but I have yet to have a conversation with Governor DeSantis.”

Senator Lara Trump?

Lara Trump, already involved in politics as the co-chair of the Republican National Committee, highlighted her familiarity with the “America First agenda.”

However, there’s no indication yet from DeSantis on his choice, as he is currently on a trade mission in Italy. If Rubio is confirmed, DeSantis will have the authority to appoint Rubio’s successor, likely bypassing a special election.

Lara Trump’s background primarily lies outside traditional legislative or governance roles.

Through her involvement with the RNC and in her father-in-law’s campaigns, however, she has gained an understanding of policy issues, political strategy, and the legislative process, even if not in an official legislative capacity.

Trump though, says her experience as a Mom could be valuable to the Senate roll.

“I can tell you that I hear from moms across the country; they’re incredibly concerned about the food their kids are eating, the impact that things like social media, tablets, laptops, phones have on their kids,” Trump told the Daily Caller.

“I do think that there’s a big spot open at the table that really is sort of unfilled, outside of Katie Britt, for a young mom to to have a seat in the United States Senate, and I think it could be really impactful in speaking on behalf of so many parents out there,” she added.

She’s The Betting Favorite

Lest you think this is just wishful thinking on Lara Trump’s part, she is currently the odds-on favorite to be named to the Senate seat by Governor DeSantis.

At least from the betting standpoint. You know – the bettors who accurately predicted Donald Trump’s easy victory in the presidential election.

Here are the current odds according to BetOnline.ag:

Will Lara Trump succeed Marco Rubio as Florida Senator?

Yes       5/7       (-140)

No        1/1       (+100)

Rubio’s confirmation as Secretary of State seems highly likely considering his experience and willingness to work across the aisle with the opposition party regarding immigration.
