After Bud Light teamed up with the transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney for a partnership in April of last year, the singer Kid Rock kicked off the highly affective boycott of the brand by posting a video to social media in which he shot up cases of Bud Light. Now, however, Kid Rock appears to be trying to backtrack from this months after saying that he has forgiven Bud Light.

Kid Rock Backtracks On Bud Light Boycott

While being interviewed by the popular podcast host Joe Rogan, Kid Rock described his viral Bud Light video as being like a “tantrum with a machine gun.”

“So what’s it like being the dude who took out Bud Light?” Rogan asked.

“Man, I was just having fun, to be honest with you,” Kid Rock replied. “I was pissed, but it wasn’t like it was going to wreck my day, let alone my life. I was just kind of like, ‘What the f–k are they doing?’”

Kid Rock went on to say that while he does not think he was the “pied piper” of the backlash, he does feel that he was the “face” of it.

Kid Rock Befriends Bud Light CEO

“Throwing a tantrum with a machine gun? ‘Wah, wah, they wanna let guys play in girls’ sports, wah,’” he said, adding that he has since become friends with the Bud Light CEO Brendan Whitworth.

“We’ve become friends. He’s a great guy. After five minutes of talking to him,” Kid Rock continued, explaining that he met Whitworth at a UFC event that he attended with the former President Donald Trump last year.

“I’m like, ‘Dude, you seem like somebody I’d f–kin’ be friends with, that I’d hang out with.’ And he’s like, ‘You would, that’s what I’m sayin’.’ And I’m like, ‘Well, come to Nashville, come visit me.’ F–kin’ did! Came with his top team … we broke bread, got f–ked up on Bud Light, f–kin’ bowled, did all this fun s–t,” he stated.

Kid Rock concluded by saying that he and Whitworth had talked about ways that he could collaborate with Bud Light. However, Kid Rock ultimately decided not to move forward with this because he doesn’t want to sacrifice changing his brand or image for a deal. That being said, he and Whitworth “still talk,” and Kid Rock wants it to be known that he no longer has anything against Bud Light.

Kid Rock Forgives Bud Light

This comes two months after Kid Rock called for Bud Light to be forgiven.

“Do I wanna hold their head underwater and drown them because they made a mistake?” he said in December, according to The Tennessean. “No, I think they got the message.”

Kid Rock went on to say that it is primarily the working class, the “people who don’t have a dog in the fight,” who are ultimately harmed by things like the Bud Light boycott.

“They screwed up, they made a mistake,” he said. “I’m over it.”

Daily Mail reported that Bud Light has lost nearly $30 billion in the ten months since the Mulvaney partnership. Kid Rock can backtrack on the brand all that he wants to, but it seems that the vast majority of beer drinkers still feel that Bud Light does not deserve to be forgiven.
