It’s taken decades too long, but Republicans have finally introduced a bill that would effectively get rid of federal “labor unions.”
The Federal Workforce Freedom Act “would prohibit federal employees from organizing or joining labor unions in order to collectively bargain, as well as forbid federal agencies from participating in collective bargaining negotiations with labor unions representing federal workers.”
Of course, such a “radical” yet simple and necessary idea could have only come from one of a few sources, and it did – the great Senator Mike Lee of Utah – in partnership with Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee.
While you’re apt to hear all manner of bellyaching about “workers” and “fair wages” and “rights” and so forth, the very notion of a government union is preposterous and should be promptly made illegal.

Ban Government “Unions”
The very notion of a government union is absurd and preposterous, and never should have been legal in the first place.
It can be deconstructed very simply and easily.
The whole point of a union is to create an antagonistic relationship between the two parties – Workers and the Company – in order for Workers to extract concessions. The negotiating table has Workers on one side, the Company on the other, and it’s all moderated by the Government.
With me so far? Good.
The thing is, this only works when the two parties are different entities. In a government union, the negotiating table is lopsided. Workers and the Company (in this case, the Government) are both on the same side of the table, again moderated by the Government.
So who is on the other side? You, the taxpayer. Only at this table, the taxpayer has no say whatsoever. The Workers, Company, and Moderator are all on the same side. Naturally, if you negotiate with yourself, you’re going to win.
As we’ve all seen, and which any rube can figure out a priori without any empirical evidence, is that the Government is always going to win when its “negotiating” with itself, has no profit requirement that requires them to live in any sort of fiscal reality, and has no opposition.
Of course, then the Government Workers vote en masse for certain politicians who promise to give them even more loot. The kicker is, these unions are therefore using your tax dollars to campaign for politicians to take more of your money for the benefit of the union. It’s a self-perpetuating system.
In other words: it’s a giant scam. Pew Research reports that the average government salary is $106,382.
The average salary overall? $66,622.
It’s not rocket science. It’s just corruption and stealing. Nothing more.
