Justin Amash is a former Republican congressman who once voted to impeach president Donald Trump.
Nevertheless, he is a staunch libertarian with an excellent record on civil liberties and opposing the Deep State who is now running for U.S. Senate.
One of his GOP primary opponents is Mike Rogers, a Bush-Cheney-era type Republican who very much endorses the government spying on citizens and is deeply an advocate for the Deep State.
And Donald Trump just endorsed the Deep State guy.

Rand Paul: Mike Rogers Is ‘The Worst Deep State Candidate this Cycle’
From Mediaite, “Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) tore into former President Donald Trump for endorsing ‘the worst Deep State candidate this cycle’ on Monday after Trump gave his blessing to Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL).”
Trump gave Rogers his ‘Complete and Total Endorsement’ in his Michigan Senate bid.
And Paul called him out on it.
The story continued:
“Donald Trump just endorsed the worst Deep State candidate this cycle. @MikeRogersForMI is a never Trumper, and a card carrying member of the spy state that seeks to destroy Trump,” declared Paul. “You have to ask yourself who gives Trump this awful advice? Who’s next, John Bolton?”
In another post, Paul added, “If he’s good with Mike Rogers (R-Deep State), maybe he should pick Liz Cheney for VP?”
Paul also posted a compilation of clips which showed Rogers criticizing Trump and predicting that Trump would not be the Republican nominee in 2024.
“I don’t believe today as I’m sitting here that Donald Trump will be the Republican nominee in 2024. Don’t believe it,” said Rogers in one of the clips, while another showed the congressman condemning Trump’s attacks on the media.
Trump wrote of Rogers, “Mike will work closely with me to enact our America First Policies. He will tirelessly fight to Secure the Border, Stop Inflation, Grow the Economy, Strengthen our Military / Veteran Support, and Protect and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment.”
“Mike Rogers will be a Great and Powerful Senator for Michigan, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement. HE KNOWS HOW TO WIN!”

Mike Rogers Is Basically A Male Liz Cheney
Rogers’ Republican philosophy is far closer to that of neoconservative Liz Cheney, an avid Trump opponent, than that of Amash, who is more in sync with Sens. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Mike Lee (R-UT) in their policy positions.
It’s anyone’s guess who wins the Michigan’s U.S. Senate seat in November and Trump’s endorsement certainly holds sway.
Even when he’s endorsing candidates who go against many of the ‘America First’ principles Trump claims to stand for.
Rand Paul is not wrong in his assessment of Donald Trump’s latest endorsement.
