Last week, Joe Biden’s own special counsel questioned his mental health – “an elderly man with a poor memory – a story that called into question his ability as president who is seeking a second term.

On Sunday, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas called Biden “sharp.”

What?!?

DHS Secretary Mayorkas speaks out on Joe Biden’s cognitive state:

Sharp?

Mayorkas told Meet the Press, “The most difficult part about a meeting with President Biden is preparing for it because he is sharp, intensely probing and detail-oriented and focused.”

The Homeland Security Secretary was asked if or other members of the Biden administration have considered invoking the 25th Amendment, a process in which which the Cabinet would begin to work to remove and replace the president, Mayorkas replied, “Not at all.”

“I don’t engage in politics,” Mayorkas said. “I’m responsible for governing and following the president’s agenda, which I scrupulously do.”

NBC News reported, “Mayorkas’ response was in line with those of the White House and the president this week, as Democrats blasted special counsel Robert Hur for the comments in his report, which included concerns the president could potentially present himself to a jury as an ‘elderly man with a poor memory.”

“The president himself on Thursday night told reporters at the White House,” the story noted. “How in the hell dare he raise that?’ in response to allegations in the report that Biden didn’t remember when his son died.”

Whether He Likes It or Not, Biden’s Mental Health is a Real Issue That’s Not Going Away

The president can feign outrage all he wants over the particular indications of his alleged declining mental health, such as forgetting when his son Beau passed, but the evidence is piling up before an American public that has already questioned his mental abilities for years.

No one is surprised that an 81-year-old man would have problems with his memory. But perhaps that man should be in retirement and not trying to be president of the United States.

Last week’s story about his mental health led to speculation if he would even be the Democratic presidential nominee in 2024.

It’s a good question. And one that hasn’t really been answered yet.
