New Argentina President Javier Milei upset his country’s political establishment by winning the presidential election in a landslide victory in November.

His victory made him the world’s first libertarian president, and so far he has endeavored to live the populist life he promotes for his country.

Libertarian Presidents Fly Commercial

And he is truly a man of the people.

On his recent trip to Rome, Milei flew coach – and socialized with a plane full of very excited fans. Watch:

The President of Argentina does not fly private— the leader is not removed from his people.

He flies commercial, with the citizens he represents.

And they LOVE him for it.

Man of the People

Sky News Australia reports, “Argentina President Javier Milei has ended his international tour by taking a commercial flight home from Rome and greeting each passenger on board the flight.

Accompanied by his entourage, President Milei boarded the ITA AZ680 flight around 22:00 in Rome, greeted by applause and photo requests from passengers, according to Argentina’ media outlet Ámbito Financiero.”

The story continued:

Onboard, passengers welcomed him with applause, shaking hands, offering hugs and photo requests.

The Argentine head of state was returning from Rome to Buenos Aires after wrapping up his tour of Israel and Italy.

Milei held meetings on Monday with Pope Francis in the Vatican and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at Palazzo Chigi.

Argentina’s new President @JMilei campaigned with a chainsaw, saying he’d slash government.

Milei Don’t Play

Since being elected, Milei has been busy slashing budgets and federal workers, left and right.

In December – just one month after being inaugurated, the Associated Press reported, “The administration of Argentina’s new President Javier Milei said on Tuesday that his government won’t renew contracts for more than 5,000 employees hired this year before he took office.

The move was part of a sweeping plan of cutbacks and devaluations announced by the right-wing libertarian since he took office on Dec. 10 to transform Argentina’s struggling economy.

The contracts for other government employees, who were hired prior to 2023, will be reviewed, authorities said. The 2023 cutoff is apparently meant to target the practice of outgoing presidents padding the payrolls in their final year.”

What kind of libertarian president would Milei be if he wasn’t taking an ax to the government?

Hopefully we will get more of this.

Also hopefully, the people of Argentina will be loving it.
