John Legend is anything but. I mean, it’s been readily apparent for some time. All one needs to do is hear his ballad All of Me and the lyrics – “Cards on the table, we’re both showing hearts” – to know he’s not exactly a deep, lyrically complex artist.
What he is, however, is always willing to tap dance for the left and their latest ‘woke’ projects. As such, McSweeny’s editor Lucy Huber recently reminded us of that with Legend’s ‘updated’ version of the classic Christmas song Baby, It’s Cold Outside.
Huber posted the lyrics to the X social media platform and gave her thoughts: “The updated lyrics to John Legend and Kelly Clarkson’s Baby It’s Cold Outside are literally so funny.”
It depends on how you look at it really. The cringe makes it funny, sure. But it also makes it sad that somebody with the last name of Legend could be such a disappointment.

Look, I’m not going to pretend I know a lot about John Legend’s body of work, mostly because I prefer good music. But what I do know is the man has an issue with being easily triggered.
And that comes through in spades in his version of Baby, It’s Cold Outside. As Huber points out, Legend wants you to know in his interpretation of the song, the male is not a date rapist. That is key. The reminders that the protagonist and his date both give consent for simply being in the same room is perpetual.
What will my friends think? (I think they should rejoice)

It’s your body and your choice. Words actually uttered in a Christmas song. Oh, and I simply refuse to believe this video exists:
Legend should make people who have to listen to this crap sign consent forms.
The song has gone from a man flirting with a woman in the hopes that she’ll stay with him to a guy who can’t wait to get rid of the poor girl.
There are at least half a dozen references to John Legend telling Kelly Clarkson that he’s got a ride on the way for her and to get the hell out. Not to mention repeated references to an Uber driver named Murray.
I’ve got $100 that says Murray is making out with Kelly within 5 minutes after she was so relieved to get away from the ‘it’s your body and choice’ beta she just left behind.

He Gets Triggered Pretty Easily
Suffice it to say, John Legend’s version of Baby, It’s Cold Outside is the worst Christmas song we’ve ever heard. And he had one of the best Christmas songs to work with in the original!
This is coming from a guy who has heard David Hasselhoff sing Jingle Bells. And now you will too.
Go ahead, tell me that isn’t about 1,000 times better than John Legend’s ode to virgins.
Former President Donald Trump often would poke fun at Legend during his time in office, calling him “boring” (which is way too kind) and blasting his “filthy-mouthed wife”, Chrissy Teigen.
The two were featured at a Democrat three-day policy retreat in 2019 where they admitted having to sometimes use comedy to cope with Trump in the White House even though “we’re crying inside.”
Not as much as we are after hearing his Christmas music.
