Donald Trump demolished the late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel for reading out a criticism of his Oscars hosting job from the former president during the Academy Awards earlier this month.
Trump Torches Kimmel
“Now look, look, Jimmy Kimmel is every is … every night, he hits me I guess, his ratings are terrible,” Trump said, according to The Hill. “I hear he hits me all the time, so I figured I’d hit him because I thought he was a lousy host.”
That’s why Trump took to his Truth Social platform to criticize Kimmel’s hosting skills during the 96th annual Academy Awards. Less than an hour later, Kimmel walked out on the Oscars stage to read out the post from the former president.
“Has there ever been a worse host than Jimmy Kimmel at the Oscars?” he said, relaying Trump’s message to the audience of A-list Hollywood elites, the vast majority of whom are radically liberal. “His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be.”
Kimmel responded by saying that he was “surprised” to see that Trump was still awake, adding “Isn’t it past your jail time?”

Trump Shuts Kimmel Down
Trump hit back yesterday by saying that he wasn’t expecting Kimmel to read out his post, particularly so close before the Academy Award for Best Picture was to be announced.
“Now the big story is that they all begged him not to do it…’don’t do it.’ He probably stupidly, you know he had to act in a short period of time, like minutes, right?” Trump said. “He had minutes because he’s on air. He sees this thing and he wants to go out there and he wants to, I guess confront me and so…he ends up reading my Truth.”
“I said, ‘this guy’s even dumber than I thought,’” he continued. “The thing went viral, it’s been all over the world now and all he had to do is keep his mouth shut.”
Kimmel admitted immediately after the show that he had been asked not to read Trump’s post.
“They’re like, ‘You’ve got a little bit of time’ and I was like, ‘I’m reading the Trump tweet,’ and they’re like, ‘No, no, don’t read that,’” Kimmel revealed. “[I was like] ‘Yes I am.’”

Kimmel’s Obsession With Trump
Trump and Kimmel have been feuding for years, as the former president has long been living rent-free in the late night host’s head. In 2022, Kimmel revealed that he’d threatened to quit ABC if they tried to stop him from telling jokes over Trump.
“There was one time, right around the beginning of this whole Trump thing… maybe not quite [eight years ago],” Kimmel said when asked about this, according to Variety. “I said listen, I get it, you’re right. I have lost half of my fanbase, maybe more. Ten years ago, among Republicans I was the most popular talk show. At least according to the research they did.”
“I get it if [blocking Trump jokes is] what they want to do,” he continued. “I said, ‘If that’s what you want to do I don’t begrudge you for it, but I’m not going to do that. If you want someone else to host the show, that’s fine with me. I’m just not going to do it like that.’”
Kimmel continues to show the world on a daily basis that Trump derangement syndrome is very real indeed, and it doesn’t get much more sad and pathetic than that! Good for Trump for continuing to show the ignorantly liberal late night host that he is no match for the former president.
